Take Me to the Mountains

I am on a journey. I don’t have a destination in mind, but I do have a Companion to walk with.

At the moment, the future seems so uncertain to me. I don’t quite know what next week looks like, let alone what next year looks like. It’s like there’s a veil over my eyes and everything is cloudy ahead of me. The path isn’t clear. I can’t see the mountain top and I can’t see what’s below me. Yet through all of this whispers a still, small voice. I am with you. I am beside you. I am before you and behind you. I will make a way to the mountain top. I will make a way through the valley. I am the way. Trust that I am.

I’ve walked in faith before, but all around me it feels like God is calling for walking in a trusting type of faith. It’s different. It’s a little bit scary, too.

Throughout all of this I keep asking God, “Where are we going, God?” “Where are you taking me next?” “What mountains are we going to climb today?”

I’ve always loved the mountain top season of faith, but it’s a bit harder to be in the part where you’re walking through the woods and you just think you’re lost. And I do feel a little bit lost right now to be honest.

He’s teaching me patience; He’s teaching me trust. He’s teaching me to give up my control and the idea that I can “help Him out” on the side.

But He tells me, “Patience, Sarah. I am making a way for you in the wilderness. I am your mountain. I am your rock. No matter where you go, no matter how far you climb or how far you fall, I am constant. I am ever-present. I am here in this moment, in the middle of the woods, when you are lost and scared. I am on the mountain top, when the sun is setting and the sky is ablaze with color. I am there in the dawn when the sky is asleep. I will never leave you. Throughout all of it, I am your guide and I am with you. I am the adventure you seek. I am yours and you are mine.”

Always, always, He is faithful.

Amos 4:13 “For behold, He who forms the mountains, who creates the wind, and who reveals His thoughts to mankind, who turns dawn to darkness, and treads on the heights of the earth– the Lord God Almighty is His name.”

Psalm 121:1-2 “I lift up my eyes to the mountains– where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
